Not Bad but Questions
Not a bad system but I have a couple questions if someone could help me as I have not had any help online or tech support answers.
Well for starters I had a noisy fan after a month. Got a new unti andw so far so good.
But on both I have trouble with the CD skipping.
The first time I thought it would be the disc so I went out and bought the same title and that one skipped also (purchased 8 years apart from one another title was) Does not skip in other CD player in home or computer. ;)
It happened the same way with another disc soon after.
I burned a copy of both and the CDR versions play fine in the Samsung.
The other day I went to play a "YES" (band) CD and this was skipping without any signs of defect, marks scratches ect. (with over 3,500 CD's my Collection has the BEST of care)
I bought a new one and that one works.
Get this now 4 more "YES" Cd's in my collection are skipping on it...but not in my other player or computer..so I am burning these as well to play CDR versions in my Samsung. LOL!!
I tried approx. 10 other CD's and they are NOT skipping. My question is what is the deal...Too sensitive this machine?? Disc too small..too big??
Could we have been warned that this unit was a lightweight to CD playback??
Did someone forget to install it's CD Wheaties??
Thanks!

Superb HTIB for the money!
I just received my Samsung HT-TZ515T yesterday and watched The Dark Knight on Blu-ray after it was all set up. WOW! For spending around $350, I don't think you'd be able to find a better HTIB for the money. I read all the other reviews before making the purchase and had no problems whatsoever during installation. You may want to purchase an optical cable to get the true Dolby Digital sound if you have a Blu-ray player (got the Samsung BD-P1500 on Amazon for $193!) or are considering upgrading to one in the near future. Overall, the sound quality is very good, perhaps even better than I expected. If there were one knock, the midrange is difficult to detect at lower volumes, but nothing that would deter me from purchasing the system if I had to do it all over again. Plus, when you consider that this same unit retails between $500-$550, it's a steal if you have the Prime shipping option. I'd highly recommend this system to anyone, but especially if you have other Samsung components/TV because the Anynet+ function makes it a snap to set-up.

Great sound for the price
I bought this system to go with my 40" Samsung 1080p set. Very easy to setup and integrates well with the TV set. The sound is fantastic for the price. I like the tower speakers because they seem to enhance the surround sound experience. The sub woofer puts out quite nicely. I would definatley recommend this product to my friends.

Great Home Theater, Failed in less than 2 weeks!
It is great 5-DVD Home theater system. Great Sound for the money. However, I was really disappointed by the Quality Control and Cheap Fans used on this system.
The Main fan on the DVD module failed in less than 3-weeks. The rear wireless speaker amplifier fan is very noisy.
THe unit is now shipped back to Samsung for Repairs. I love Samsung products. However, I am pretty sure that Samsung has a lot of work to be as same Quality level as Sony. Sony is just works like a Rolex watch!

Good sound but unreliable
I really wanted to like this unit, since the sound is really excellent for the price, and the speakers and small and unobtrusive. But after all the problems I've had, I definitely wouldn't buy this again.
- The wireless speakers disconnect continuously. I've tried turning off wireless routers in my house and it makes no difference. The only thing that works is resetting the rear speakers and entering a "secret reset password" on the main unit to get everything back in sync. I do this every time I watch a film. If I don't do this the unit flashes "REAR CHK" and pauses the sounds every 30 seconds until I do.
- The "secret reset password" is something you'll only find by Googling problems with the unit (turn off, type 0-1-3-5 and everything resets). There's nothing in the manual or on Samsung's support site. In fact, all the documentation has as much value as firepaper.
- There's no input for cable TV - why?
On the plus side, here are the steps for unlocking the unit to become multiregion (you have to follow the steps precisely):
1. Remove disc from tray. 2. Switch off player and unplug from mains. 3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect mains. 4. Turn on player with remote. Wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc'. 5. Press enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response.) 6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be no on-screen response.) 7. Press enter on the remote. Player will automatically shut off. 8. Turn player on. 9. Turn off. 10. Turn player on then off again. |
