| Simple Review |
I'm not a professional photographer, I use my camera as a hobby. This is the first major upgrade in a digital camera for me in ten years. Yeah I know, I know. But I waited until the right camera, with the right amount of megapixels for the right price came out. I don't like buying gear every three or four years becuse I just want to have it.
So why I choose this the Nikon D90 camera?
I get a camera that is fast enough (very important for me) so I don't miss a shot.
I want to be creative with my photgraphy, and wanted lots of features.
When I need to do large poster prints, I can do that with the high 12.3MP count. (I had 3.5MP with a point and shoot before this!)
It's the right size for my hands! Very important. I never see anyone address this issue when shopping for a camera. I have large hands and long fingers, a small camera is very difficult to work with and is not very comfortable. Do yourself a favor go to any store and put the camera in your hands before you buy it! Does it feel solid in your hand? Are your fingers cramped? Is it to heavy or to light?
The Movie mode was the tie breaker that made the difference between Nikon D90 and the Canon 50D.
The Nikon D90 is more camera than I know how to useright now, but as you will notice from other users who have bought non prosumer cameras in the past they grow out of them fast. I'll have this camera until they come out with 36MP cameras (when ever that is). I'm looking forward to having this camera for many years and building my collection of lens slowly but shurly. |

| Amazing Camera at a Great Price! |
All I can say is WOW! This camera has done everything I want it to do and more. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. There are so many creative things you can do with this camera especially when you incorporate the hd movie mode which I have to say isn't as bad as I had thought although if you move it from one side to another too fast it will look sloppy. I love this camera much more than I had expected and the optical quality of the 18-105 is great as well. If you aren't sure where to go with this camera or perhaps a canon 40d or 50d this is most definitely the better choice! Happy Shooting! |

| excellent entry into the DSLR world |
This is my first "real" camera from the world of point and shoot cameras. I finally made the jump when I discovered that my trusty panasonic lumix could not keep up the antics of my [...] son. Having no real background in photography it was necessary that we choose a camera that was not only fast and versatile but was also as easy to use as our trusty P&S cameras.
The D90 is such a beast. It's relatively fast at 4.5 fps so it can grab those shots of my son whirling about but as it's more of a "prosumer" camera than the D300, the pre-programmed shoot modes made it a breeze to use right out of the box. This ease of use made it much easier for me to learn how to use the camera more as it was intended.
When I consider the ease of use along with features such as the excellent noise control in low light shooting and the excellent nikkor lens selection and availability I'm very happy with my purchase and easily recommend this camera to anyone looking to get a start in this hobby. |

| It makes me a better photographer |
| I am a novice photographer. This camera is so easy to use and produces such high quality pictures that it has made me seem like a much better photgrapher than I rightly deserve . I can usually find areas of single picture that has interest but not always the whole picture. Because of this camera, I can enhance those areas and create a good photograph from a mediocre one. |

| An Entry lebel Pro DSLR |
This is an excellent camera for serious amateur or entry level professional. However, the camera has few setting for novice DSLR users e.g. flower mode which I find pretty useless. Maybe Nikon is targeting few customers from it's coolpix range camera users but I give a star less for those extra setting.
The ISO range is very good, but the metering is not always at it's best. I have shot few hundreds photos with 3F auto exposure bracketing but sometime I got all 3 shots underexposed. The metering system could have been better. Only electronic cable release is available. It should have been made a part of standard accessory. The bottom line is that the camera dose produce excellent photographs.
