Canon DC310 DVD Camcorder with 41x Optical Zoom

Very nice mini DVD camcorder by Canon

Although the indoor light setting for automatic exposure leaves the video image slightly grainy, this is still a fantastic system. It's bright day and outdoor color is perfect and life-like. We're using TDK mini DVDs purchased here at Amazon and they work well.

The only kink in the system with the DC310 Camcorder is the requirement to connect the AC wall charger to the camcorder unit before "burning" the disc inside the player (after making your recording). This is a little strange. Imagine being somewhere remote where you wanted to record on 2 or 3 mini DVD discs and were without an AC outlet.

The result would be an inability to burn your DVDs, so you would be stuck with only one disc worth. Perhaps this isn't a big deal, but if you plan on burning your DVDs somewhere in the boon docks, you better have an AC outlet and your charger in the case.

On the positive side, the unit is very capable and in keeping with the high quality you expect from Canon. The "still" camera function works great with a standard size SD card (not a Micro as advertised) and it's easy to install and remove.

Video capture is easy and fairly intuitive, and the stabilization works nicely. The display to the left is very clear, and my only complaint is the very illogical process that is required to go from recording complete to burning your discs. However, once you've memorized the steps and button-functions (as well as an odd joystick on the display panel), you'll be set and happy with the unit. I recommend shooting a disc or two prior to using this camera for anything important. This way, you won't be disappointed.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Amazon treats its customers like kings, and they stand by their products.

Good buy

Item arrived in time. Bought it for my brother. Tested it and works well. What I like about it is the zoom (41x). My only concern is one has to slide the lens cover manually. I was used to DC40 which is more automatic. Overall good buy.

Just what I expected

I purchased this camcorder to video tape ballroom dance practice in my house. It has worked great for this purpose! I set it up in the corner, turn on the video, we dance and then we hook the camera to the TV to watch and review our dancing. I haven't had any trouble, and it only took me about an hour to figure out how to use it. It is the first time I have operated a video camera.

Great DVD Camcorder Love it!!

I bought this camera in August 2008. I was tired of my old one. It's really easy to operate. I love it because its very light weight and it can fit right into your bag but I would suggest a camera bag for it. I haven't taken pictures with it yet. It has a great zoom lens on it. It doesn't shake. If you love filming like I do you will love this camera. I would suggest it to anyone. It's a great price too! I watched the Dvd that I had made on my Dvd player and the videos were very clear. This is a real nice camera. One more thing the battery has a nice long charge to it. I only had to charge it twice since I've had it.

Excellent Product with Great Price

We purchased this camcorder after looking at reviews in various places, in particular, one well known consumer product magazine. Since we wanted something basic, but a camcorder that would give us very good quality images, we counted on the Canon. It is easy to learn to use if you are a novice like we are, and is adequate for home videos. Taking into account the savings extras from Amazon, we purchased it at the lowest price that we researched on the internet, and at local electronics retailers. We highly suggest purchasing an extra battery, and the battery charger (stick with the Canon brand or you can be burned with the cheaper "replacement" claiming to be as good). Amazon shipped it in two days at no extra charge....a "special" at the time. We purchase from Amazon often because of their excellent customer service.
