Problem solved!
APC BR1500LCD 1500VA 865 Watts 8 Outlets BACK-UPS
My new plasma TV intermittently and often switched on and off without any warning or apparent reason while I was watching it. I called Panasonic tech support and they couldn't figure it out. I thought about it, called APC and we determined that the DC power coming from my 350VA UPS into my plasma TV was MUCH less than needed. After connecting this sweet new APC 1500VA UPS I've had NO problems whatsoever. Case closed! |

Great Product
Very happy with the product. Software was easy to install and Amazon delivered the product right on time.. Love the led display and functionality that comes with the unit. I monitor the wattage window during most sessions..Prior to the installation of this product, I had no idea what kind of wattage my system was consuming. I had replaced my video card with a gamer card which has its own fan for cooling and I was not sure my power supply was up for the job.. Upon installing this product and viewing the wattage window, I was pleasantly surprised that I was not using near what I thought.. I'm well within spec of the rated power supply output.. I would definitely recommend this product to the home user..

expensive, but probably worth it
We bought this UPS to protect a new server. It comes with the same APC software that has been around for a few years. The software is easy to use and makes it a breeze to configure the UPS (Admittedly, configuration is an optional step, but I recommend taking the 5 minutes to install the software and check it out. If you don't like it, you can always uninstall the software. The UPS will still work just fine.). The LED displays are refreshingly complete and understandable. The bottom line on a UPS is that it fills the power gap for under or over voltage conditions. We have not had any major failures in the month since we installed this unit, but on the other hand, we have not had any false-positives either ... (That was a problem with units from about 10 years ago.) This is a fairly expensive UPS. It would be overkill to put this on a home computer or simple workstation...But for a server or switch or something that has specific voltage limits, this seems to be a good choice.

so far so good...
I like the unit. I like the extended information available in terms of current load and back up run time based upon that load, battery status, etc. I have simulated power outages and the unit has worked well. I like the additional outlets that are not part of the back up, very practical. Two things; I did not use the software because I was not connecting a PC so I cannot comment upon it. Second, I can only give it four stars because I haven't actually had to use it in a power outage. But so far so good...
